Over mij
In mijn vrije werk zoek ik contact met de essentie van het bestaan. Mijn Land Art en beeldhouwwerk gaan vaak over het gevoel verbonden te zijn met de aarde waarop je leeft. Ik zie mijn kunst als een voertuig voor de ziel. Steeds ben ik op zoek naar manieren om mijn innerlijke wereld te verbinden met de buitenwereld, waarbij ik werk met verschillende materialen. Klei, hout, ijzer, natuurlijke materialen, en soms zelfs de aarde zelf. Ik vind poëzie in de natuur en haar processen, en in de rituelen die mensen ontwikkelen om met de natuur samen te leven – dát zijn mijn belangrijkste inspiratiebronnen. Daarom ben ik geïnteresseerd in zowel het moderne als het traditionele leven in agrarische samenlevingen: leven in het ritme van de plant, of in sommige gevallen juist daartegenin.
Mijn werk in opdracht heeft vaak een architectonisch karakter. Ik ontwerp graag eenvoudige plekken om samen te zitten en te praten, plekken waar mensen zich op hun gemak voelen.
Als bevlogen docent houd ik me daarnaast graag bezig met Community Art. In een van mijn projecten, het GroenDoenPaviljoen, een speels doe-het-zelf kunstwerk met natuurlijke materialen, heb ik samengewerkt met veel stadskinderen in Europa, onder andere in Londen, Amsterdam en Antwerpen.
